Saint Nicholas School’s Class of 2023 celebrate brilliant GCSE results
As we welcome the start of the 2023-24 academic year, it’s a perfect time to look back at the fantastic achievements at ISA schools over the summer. Pupils at Saint Nicholas School in Harlow earned superb GCSE results a couple of weeks ago.
At Saint Nicholas School, a co-educational setting for 2-16 year olds, the philosophy is “small enough to care, large enough to inspire”. The emphasis is on the individual, recognising that all children are different and valued. An extensive curriculum and extra-curricular activities are designed to support every pupil to fulfil their potential.
Year 11 at Saint Nicholas School once again impressed in their GCSEs, with the entire Class of 2023 achieving 5 or more GCSE passes at grades 4-9. 92% of all grades were earned at 4-9, and 25% of results were equivalent to A and A* (7-9).
Amazingly, 100% pass rates were recorded in 7 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Core Science, Art, 3D Art and Design, Food Technology and PE. This was followed by a 98% mark of grades 4-9 in other subjects including English Literature, English Language, Maths, Physics, History and Geography.
Headmaster Terence Ayres is ‘exceptionally proud’ of the students’ achievements given the ‘challenging climate’ this cohort face:
“I am exceptionally proud of our Year 11 students and all they have achieved in such a challenging climate. They are the first cohort to be marked under pre-pandemic grade standards, which makes their achievements all the more impressive.
“My sincerest congratulations to the 'Class of 23' and my very best wishes, as they take the next steps in their educational journey.”
