Record-breaking GCSE achievements for Bournemouth Collegiate School pupils

This week it’s the turn of GCSE students to celebrate their hard work, and at Bournemouth Collegiate School the Seniors have earned themselves the honour of record-setters.

BCS Senior is a co-educational school based in Bournemouth offering day and boarding from age 11. A holistic teaching experience is their ethos, equipping students with the tools and experiences they need to enjoy a successful and enriching future.

The GCSE Class of 2023 have excelled in Southbourne, with an outstanding mark of 92% of pupils achieving grades at 9-4; half of these students achieved grades of 6 and above, with a quarter earning results at 9-7.

100% pass rates were also achieved by BCS Senior pupils in 10 subjects; English Literature, Further Maths, Art, French, Chinese, Performing Arts, History, Music, PE and Resistant Materials.

Principal, Maria Coulter, is ‘absolutely thrilled’ with the cohort’s achievements and points to it as another sign of how BCS is going from ‘strength to strength’:

“We are celebrating a record year of outstanding GCSE results based on pre pandemic results and I am absolutely thrilled by them. These results represent a tremendous achievement for both pupils and staff who have worked incredibly hard to achieve this level of success.

“I congratulate all those pupils who have achieved their personal targets when they have faced so many challenges as a result of the pandemic. BCS is a non-selective school and in so many cases pupils have exceeded at GCSE alongside balancing a broad range of commitments in performance and sport to a very high level. I look forward to welcoming these pupils to Sixth Form in order to build on this excellent foundation for A Level studies.

“BCS is going from strength to strength and it was a privilege to be amongst so many happy students this morning, I am incredibly proud of the resilience and determination of each pupil.”
