Claires Court at the U11 National 5-a-side Football Tournament
Many fine players and schools represented the ISA in their annual National Football Tournament on Friday 23rd March 2018 and the standard of teams we faced was very high indeed. It was our first ever time playing in the competition and to qualify from the Regional competition was an achievement in itself. Playing 10 matches in a day over the course of 6 hours was going to be a test of endurance and to progress, the boys had to play to their best. They did. Coming back from a 0-3 defeat in the first game CCJB U11s then swept aside Rosemead (London), Hull Collegiate and Copthill (Lincolnshire) to finish a close third in their group of 7 teams to qualify for the Plate Competition.
It was in the second round of group matches that the boys dug deep and played their best football winning 2-0 against both Trinty (Devon) and Finborough (Suffolk) schools.
In
topping Group 1, we qualified to play the winners of Group 2.
In the Regional qualifiers, we lost 5-6 on penalties to Hawley House following a gritty 0-0 draw. We were drawn against our old foes. This time for the real prize. In a thrilling final, chances were allowed at both ends with fine flowing football being played by both teams. Billy R's determination at the back, Jamie S’s point point-blank, Finn K’s 2 assists and Prabhan K’s brace saw us lift the Plate. Revenge was to be sweet as we won 2-1.
It was a real team effort with all 8 players playing at least 9 games each. The boys were excellent ambassadors for the school, earning compliments and making many friends during the day.
