The Youth MHFA course is an internationally recognised course designed specifically for those people that teach, work, live with or care for young people aged 8 to 18 years.

You will learn how to provide information, tools and techniques to promote a young person's mental and emotional wellbeing, as well as how to support a young person who might be experiencing mental and emotional distress.

MHFA won't teach you how to be a therapist, but you will be able to say you're a Youth Mental Health First Aider

As a key figure in a young person’s life – you probably know them well enough to spot when they are struggling with their mental heath and wellbeing.

But do you know how best to support them?

By booking onto the new Youth MHFA course by @MHFAEngland, you will gain:

✅ The knowledge, awareness, and skills to spot the signs of a young person experiencing emotional distress or poor mental health

✅ The confidence to start a conversation

✅ The tools to safeguard and signpost to appropriate support

✅ Plus access to the MHFAider Support App®, exclusive resources, and learning opportunities through the Association of Mental Health First Aiders® to keep your learning and confidence alive ✨

The rate of youth referrals to mental health services increased from around 40,000 a month in 2016 to almost 120,000 a month in 2024 (Department of Health and Social Care).

By becoming a Youth Mental Health First Aider, you’ll be making a difference by…

💚 Reducing the stigma around youth mental health issues and promoting understanding of mental health from different perspectives

👋 Building supportive environments where you have the confidence to start a conversation and young people feel they can be open about their mental health

👍 Promoting early intervention and recovery, which can prevent a young person’s mental health from deteriorating

⛑ Having an action plan to support young people experiencing emotional distress or poor mental health

🛠 Having the tools to look after your own mental health to set an example for young people

🗝 Being a member of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders®, so you have the confidence to carry out your role effectively beyond your initial training

This course replaces the previous two day Youth MHFA course.

Upon completion delegates will receive a workbook, a manual and certification as a Youth MHFAider.
